Garlic lemon salmon : the classic
This recipe is a fuss-free and flavorful way to enjoy salmon. The combination of bright lemon and aromatic garlic is a classic for a reason – it enhances the natural flavors of the fish beautifully.
Ingredients:
2 salmon fillets (each about 6 oz)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or baking sheet.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season them generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and oregano (if using).
Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if the skin is on) in the prepared baking dish. Brush the tops of the salmon with the lemon-garlic mixture.
Bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through. The flesh should be opaque and flake easily with a fork.
Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and drizzle with any remaining pan juices.
Tips:
For extra crispy skin, broil the salmon on high for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, watching closely to avoid burning.
You can use fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or thyme instead of dried oregano. Add them to the lemon-garlic mixture.
For a richer flavor, substitute butter for half of the olive oil.
Serve your baked salmon with roasted vegetables, rice, or quinoa for a complete meal.
Enjoy this easy and delicious classic!
